FUNK 4 PEACE BALL
INAUGURAL & MLK JR. DAY CELEBRATION!!
WASHINGTON, DC – JANUARY 2ND, 2013: Fort Knox Recordings has teamed up with local brewery, DC Brau, to put together a special event for the extended Inauguration and MLK Jr holiday weekend. At the top of the bill will be DJ Nu-Mark from Golden Age Hip-Hop group Jurassic 5. DJ Nu-Mark is touring worldwide in support of his solo debut album, Broken Sunlight, just released in December 2012. DJ Nu-Mark's album, like his DJ sets, adventurously spans multiple genres, unearthing the sounds that influenced the development of hip-hop. After decades of touring with Jurassic 5 and on his own as a DJ, Nu-Mark takes his already prolific career to the next level with this album. Fort Knox Recordings is proud to bring this hip-hop legend to the Nation's Capital for this historic occasion.
There will also be DJ sets from many of the artists on the Fort Knox Recordings roster, who are all celebrating recent releases. Fort Knox Five have just had a song featured in the major feature film Stand Up Guys with Al Pacino, Christopher Walken and Alan Arkin; their song is also on the film's soundtrack. All Good Funk Alliance have just released another EP of remixes from their 2012 album Jacks of All Trades, and soon will release a full remix LP. Nappy Riddem have just released their own remix EP of the hit tracks Angle It and D.T.A. And the newest signing to the label, QDup Foundation, are excited to drop a release this spring that features vocals by Flex Mathews, one of Washington DC's rising MCs.
Collaborating with Fort Knox Recordings on this event are the creators of DC's finest craft beers, DC Brau Brewing Company. The Brothers Brau will DJ at the event, as well as provide a drink special sure to please the swelling numbers of local hops aficionados.
The Funk 4 Peace Ball will run from 10:00 pm until 4:00 am and is for those 18 and over only. Tickets are only $10 and already available online, advance tickets are highly recommended. There is no school or work on Monday, due to the double holiday of both MLK Jr. day and President Obama's Second Inauguration. This will be a unique celebration that truly embraces the musical community of Washington, DC and its historical legacy.
All of the artists performing at this show are available for interviews and features. Media files, artwork, photos, and music provided upon request. MP3 giveaways are offered upon request
