DC Brau will be working with Burnside Farms in Haymarket VA to dispose of our Brewery Waste. Brewery Waste has long been known as an excellent addition to animal feed, as well as, a great aid in composting and fertilization. Burnside will act as a hub for Northern VA farmers to pick ours up. In addition, we plan to use some of our own waste to fertilize a crop of hops that has been planted on the Burnside property. This will, most likely, only be enough hops for a single batch run but we do plan on making this a limited annual release.
"Burnside Farms is a diversified family owned operation in Haymarket, VA, 35 miles west of Washington, DC. Our farming practice is focused on long term sustainability without use of any chemical pesticides or herbicides. Farming to us is a cycle that begins and ends with responsible land stewardship. We sustain our soil through crop rotation, composting, mineral amendments and straw mulch without any synthetic inputs. We sustain balanced life on the farm by creating habitats for beneficial insects, planting diversified crops, and tending many of our own bee hives."
